ASVs · الأصحاح 30
A nd it came to pass, when DavidH1732 and his menH582 were comeH935 to ZiklagH6860 on the thirdH7992 day,H3117 that the AmalekitesH6003 had made a raidH6584 upon the South,H5045 and upon Ziklag,H6860 and had smittenH5221 Ziklag,H6860 and burnedH8313 it with fire,H784
and had taken captiveH7617 the womenH802 [and all] that were therein, both smallH6996 and great:H1419 they slewH4191 not any,H376 but carried them off,H5090 and wentH3212 their way.H1870
And when DavidH1732 and his menH582 cameH935 to the city,H5892 behold, it was burnedH8313 with fire;H784 and their wives,H802 and their sons,H1121 and their daughters,H1323 were taken captive.H7617
Then DavidH1732 and the peopleH5971 that were with him lifted upH5375 their voiceH6963 and wept,H1058 until they had no more powerH3581 to weep.H1058
And David'sH1732 twoH8147 wivesH802 were taken captive,H7617 AhinoamH293 the Jezreelitess,H3159 and AbigailH26 the wifeH802 of NabalH5037 the Carmelite.H3761
And DavidH1732 was greatlyH3966 distressed;H3334 for the peopleH5971 spakeH559 of stoningH5619 him, because the soulH5315 of all the peopleH5971 was grieved,H4843 every manH376 for his sonsH1121 and for his daughters:H1323 but DavidH1732 strengthenedH2388 himself in JehovahH3068 his God.H430
And DavidH1732 saidH559 to AbiatharH54 the priest,H3548 the sonH1121 of Ahimelech,H288 I pray thee, bring me hitherH5066 the ephod.H646 And AbiatharH54 broughtH5066 thither the ephodH646 to David.H1732
And DavidH1732 inquiredH7592 of Jehovah,H3068 saying,H559 If I pursueH7291 afterH310 this troop,H1416 shall I overtakeH5381 them? And he answeredH559 him, Pursue;H7291 for thou shalt surelyH5381 overtakeH5381 [them], and shalt without failH5337 recoverH5337 [all].
So DavidH1732 went,H3212 he and the sixH8337 hundredH3967 menH376 that were with him, and cameH935 to the brookH5158 Besor,H1308 where those that were left behindH3498 stayed.H5975
But DavidH1732 pursued,H7291 he and fourH702 hundredH3967 men;H376 for two hundredH3967 stayed behind,H5975 who were so faintH6296 that they could not go overH5674 the brookH5158 Besor.H1308
And they foundH4672 an EgyptianH376 in the field,H7704 and broughtH3947 him to David,H1732 and gaveH5414 him bread,H3899 and he did eat;H398 and they gave him waterH4325 to drink.H8248
And they gaveH5414 him a pieceH6400 of a cakeH1690 of figs, and twoH8147 clusters of raisins:H6778 and when he had eaten,H398 his spiritH7307 came againH7725 to him; for he had eatenH398 no bread,H3899 nor drunkH8354 any water,H4325 threeH7969 daysH3117 and threeH7969 nights.H3915
And DavidH1732 saidH559 unto him, To whom belongest thou? and whence art thou? And he said,H559 I am a young manH5288 of Egypt,H4713 servantH5650 to an Amalekite;H376 and my masterH113 leftH5800 me, because threeH7969 daysH3117 ago I fell sick.H2470
We made a raidH6584 upon the SouthH5045 of the Cherethites,H3774 and upon that which belongeth to Judah,H3063 and upon the SouthH5045 of Caleb;H3612 and we burnedH8313 ZiklagH6860 with fire.H784
And DavidH1732 saidH559 to him, Wilt thou bring me downH3381 to this troop?H1416 And he said,H559 SwearH7650 unto me by God,H430 that thou wilt neither killH4191 me, norH518 deliverH5462 me up into the handsH3027 of my master,H113 and I will bring thee downH3381 to this troop.H1416
And when he had brought him down,H3381 behold, they were spread abroadH5203 over allH6440 the ground,H776 eatingH398 and drinking,H8354 and dancing,H2287 because of all the greatH1419 spoilH7998 that they had takenH3947 out of the landH776 of the Philistines,H6430 and out of the landH776 of Judah.H3063
And DavidH1732 smoteH5221 them from the twilightH5399 even unto the eveningH6153 of the next day:H4283 and there escapedH4422 not a manH376 of them, save fourH702 hundredH3967 youngH5288 men,H376 who rodeH7392 upon camelsH1581 and fled.H5127
And DavidH1732 recoveredH5337 all that the AmalekitesH6002 had taken;H3947 and DavidH1732 rescuedH5337 his twoH8147 wives.H802
And there was nothing lackingH5737 to them, neitherH4480 smallH6996 nor great,H1419 neither sonsH1121 nor daughters,H1323 neither spoil,H7998 nor anything that they had takenH3947 to them: DavidH1732 broughtH3947 back all.
And DavidH1732 tookH3947 all the flocksH6629 and the herds,H1241 [which] they droveH5090 beforeH6440 thoseH1931 [other] cattle,H4735 and said,H559 This is David'sH1732 spoil.H7998
And DavidH1732 cameH935 to the two hundredH3967 men,H582 who were so faintH6296 that they could not followH3212 David,H1732 whom also they had made to abideH3427 at the brookH5158 Besor;H1308 and they went forthH3318 to meetH7125 David,H1732 and to meetH7125 the peopleH5971 that were with him: and when DavidH1732 came nearH5066 to the people,H5971 he salutedH7592 them.
Then answeredH6030 all the wickedH7451 menH376 and baseH1100 fellows, of thoseH582 that wentH1980 with David,H1732 and said,H559 Because they wentH1980 not with us, we will not giveH5414 them aught of the spoilH7998 that we have recovered,H5337 save to every manH376 his wifeH802 and his children,H1121 that he may lead them away,H5090 and depart.H3212
Then saidH559 David,H1732 Ye shall not do so,H6213 my brethren,H251 with that which JehovahH3068 hath givenH5414 unto us, who hath preservedH8104 us, and deliveredH5414 the troopH1416 that cameH935 against us into our hand.H3027
And who will hearkenH8085 unto you in this matter?H1697 for as his shareH2506 is that goeth downH3381 to the battle,H4421 so shall his shareH2506 be that tarriethH3427 by the baggage:H3627 they shall shareH2505 alike.H3162
And it was so from that dayH3117 forward,H4605 that he madeH7760 it a statuteH2706 and an ordinanceH4941 for IsraelH3478 unto this day.H3117
And when DavidH1732 cameH935 to Ziklag,H6860 he sentH7971 of the spoilH7998 unto the eldersH2205 of Judah,H3063 even to his friends,H7453 saying,H559 Behold, a presentH1293 for you of the spoilH7998 of the enemiesH341 of Jehovah:H3068
To themH834 that were in Beth-el,H1008 and to them that were in RamothH7418 of the South,H5045 and to them that were in Jattir,H3492
and to them that were in Aroer,H6177 and to them that were in Siphmoth,H8224 and to them that were in Eshtemoa,H851
and to them that were in Racal,H7403 and to them that were in the citiesH5892 of the Jerahmeelites,H3397 and to them that were in the citiesH5892 of the Kenites,H7017
and to them that were in Hormah,H2767 and to them that were in Bor-ashan,H3565 and to them that were in Athach,H6269
and to them that were in Hebron,H2275 and to all the placesH4725 where DavidH1732 himself and his menH582 were wont to haunt.H1980
