العودة إلى المقطع

But the inhabitants are strong, and the cities are fortified and very large. Moreover we saw the descendants of Anak there.

If you think,“These nations are more numerous than I– how can I dispossess them?”

They include the Anakites, a numerous and tall people whom you know about and of whom it is said,“Who is able to resist the Anakites?”

However, you may chop down any tree you know is not suitable for food, and you may use it to build siege works against the city that is making war with you until that city falls.

When we heard the news we lost our courage and no one could even breathe for fear of you. For the LORD your God is God in heaven above and on earth below!

No Anakites were left in Israelite territory, though some remained in Gaza, Gath, and Ashdod.

Caleb drove out from there three Anakites– Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai, descendants of Anak.

Caleb received Hebron, just as Moses had promised. He drove out the three Anakites.

For this reason all hands hang limp, every human heart loses its courage.
