Micah said,“Now I know the LORD will make me rich, because I have this Levite as my priest.”

(Now it used to be in Israel that whenever someone went to inquire of God he would say,“Come on, let’s go to the seer.” For today’s prophet used to be called a seer.)

King Ahaz ordered Uriah the priest,“On the large altar offer the morning burnt sacrifice, the evening grain offering, the royal burnt sacrifices and grain offering, the burnt sacrifice for all the people of the land, their grain offering, and their libations. Sprinkle all the blood of the burnt sacrifice and other sacrifices on it. The bronze altar will be for my personal use.”

For the king of Babylon stands at the fork in the road at the head of the two routes. He looks for omens: He shakes arrows, he consults idols, he examines animal livers.
