I also walked contrary unto them, and brought them into the land of their enemies: if then their uncircumcised heart be humbled, and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity;

if my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

His prayer also, and how [God] was entreated of him, and all his sin and his trespass, and the places wherein he built high places, and set up the Asherim and the graven images, before he humbled himself: behold, they are written in the history of Hozai.

because thy heart was tender, and thou didst humble thyself before God, when thou heardest his words against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, and hast humbled thyself before me, and hast rent thy clothes, and wept before me; I also have heard thee, saith Jehovah.

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the wicked, Nor standeth in the way of sinners, Nor sitteth in the seat of scoffers:

[[ A Psalm] of David. Maschil]. Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, Whose sin is covered.

[For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David]. Blessed is he that considereth the poor: Jehovah will deliver him in the day of evil.

O Jehovah of hosts, Blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.

ALEPH. Blessed are they that are perfect in the way, Who walk in the law of Jehovah.

Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, Whose hope is in Jehovah his God:

Better it is to be of a lowly spirit with the poor, Than to divide the spoil with the proud.

And therefore will Jehovah wait, that he may be gracious unto you; and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for Jehovah is a God of justice; blessed are all they that wait for him.

The Spirit of the Lord Jehovah is upon me; because Jehovah hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening [of the prison] to them that are bound;

I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself [thus], Thou hast chastised me, and I was chastised, as a calf unaccustomed [to the yoke] : turn thou me, and I shall be turned; for thou art Jehovah my God.

He hath showed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth Jehovah require of thee, but to do justly, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with thy God?

Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

And blessed is he, whosoever shall find no occasion of stumbling in me.

But blessed are your eyes, for they see; and your ears, for they hear.

Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

But when Jesus saw it, he was moved with indignation, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me; forbid them not: for to such belongeth the kingdom of God.

And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed [are] ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God.

I say unto you, This man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be humbled; but he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

Even as David also pronounceth blessing upon the man, unto whom God reckoneth righteousness apart from works,

Blessed is the man that endureth temptation; for when he hath been approved, he shall receive the crown of life, which [the Lord] promised to them that love him.

Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.

Blessed are they that wash their robes, that they may have the right [to come] to the tree of life, and may enter in by the gates into the city.
