And she conceived again, and bare a son; and said, Now this time will my husband be joined unto me, because I have born him three sons: therefore was his name called Levi.
¶ These [be] the heads of their fathers' houses: The sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel; Hanoch, and Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi: these [be] the families of Reuben.
And these were the sons of Levi by their names; Gershon, and Kohath, and Merari.
¶ And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
¶ And of Levi he said, [Let] thy Thummim and thy Urim [be] with thy holy one, whom thou didst prove at Massah, [and with] whom thou didst strive at the waters of Meribah;
And Nahshon begat Salma, and Salma begat Boaz,
¶ The sons of Levi; Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
¶ Then David said, This [is] the house of the LORD God, and this [is] the altar of the burnt offering for Israel.
