Back to passage

The king made a large throne decorated with ivory and overlaid it with pure gold.

Now there happened to be a Jewish man in Susa the citadel whose name was Mordecai. He was the son of Jair, the son of Shimei, the son of Kish, a Benjaminite,

“Go, assemble all the Jews who are found in Susa and fast in my behalf. Don’t eat and don’t drink for three days, night or day. My female attendants and I will also fast in the same way. Afterward I will go to the king, even though it violates the law. If I perish, I perish!”

Now Mordecai went out from the king’s presence in blue and white royal attire, with a large golden crown and a purple linen mantle. The city of Susa shouted with joy.

What did you go out to see? A man dressed in soft clothing? Look, those who wear soft clothing are in the palaces of kings!

that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and you will sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

I will grant the one who conquers permission to sit with me on my throne, just as I too conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne.
