who announces the end from the beginning and reveals beforehand what has not yet occurred, who says,‘My plan will be realized, I will accomplish what I desire,’

So then, God has mercy on whom he chooses to have mercy, and he hardens whom he chooses to harden.

He did this when he revealed to us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure that he set forth in Christ,

This was according to the eternal purpose that he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord,
