The Departure of Anba Ammonius the Hermit of Antioch

The angel of the Lord revealed to Anba Apollo the case of The Simple One with Anba Ammonius and that the Lord had sent them there to attend her departure. The angel's words were fulfilled, for around the third hour of the night, she was seized by a severe fever, bowed to the Lord, and surrendered her spirit into His hand. They wrapped her and, after prayer, buried her. Then Anba Ammonius told them of her virtues, that she had lived with him for eighteen years without raising her face to see his, and her food was bread and salt. Afterwards, Saint Anthony sent him to Wadi El Natrun to establish monasteries there. A crowd of believers followed him, and he organized their way of life and continued to shepherd them in virtue. After a short time, this holy father passed away. May his prayers be with us. Glory to our Lord forever. Amen.
