Story
The Latins celebrate the feast of the martyrdom of the two priests Evantius and Theodulus together with Saint Alexander I, Bishop of Rome.
This took place around the year 117 A.D., in the reign of the Emperor Hadrian, by the hand of the governor Aurelian. The three were cast into a furnace of fire, and when no harm touched them, the two priests were slain by the sword, while the bishop was pierced over his whole body with serrated iron instruments until he gave up his spirit
