The Departure of the Prophet Daniel

On this day, in the last year of King Cyrus, the great righteous Daniel the Prophet departed. This prophet was from the tribe of Judah and from the lineage of King David. Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon, took him captive along with the Israelite people when he captured Jerusalem in the year 3398 since the creation of the world, and he remained in Babylon for seven years. This prophet was young in age, yet he lived a completely virtuous life, and the Spirit of God came upon him and he prophesied in Babylon.
