If thou shalt say^H559 in thy heart,^H3824 These nations^H1471 are more^H7227 than I; how^H349 can^H3201 I dispossess^H3423 them?

And if thou say^H559 in thy heart,^H3824 How shall we know^H3045 the word^H1697 which Jehovah^H3068 hath not spoken?^H1696

so shall the king^H4428 of Assyria^H804 lead away^H5090 the captives^H7628 of Egypt,^H4714 and the exiles^H1546 of Ethiopia,^H3568 young^H5288 and old,^H2205 naked^H6174 and barefoot,^H3182 and with buttocks^H8357 uncovered,^H2834 to the shame^H6172 of Egypt.^H4714

Now therefore hear^H8085 this, thou that art given to pleasures,^H5719 that sittest^H3427 securely,^H983 that sayest^H559 in thy heart,^H3824 I am, and there is none else^H657 besides me; I shall not sit^H3427 as a widow,^H490 neither shall I know^H3045 the loss of children:^H7908

Thine own wickedness^H7451 shall correct^H3256 thee, and thy backslidings^H4878 shall reprove^H3198 thee: know^H3045 therefore and see^H7200 that it is an evil^H7451 thing and a bitter,^H4751 that thou hast forsaken^H5800 Jehovah^H3068 thy God,^H430 and that my fear^H6345 is not in thee, saith^H5002 the Lord,^H136 Jehovah^H3069 of hosts.^H6635

Oh that^H5414 I had in the wilderness^H4057 a lodging-place^H4411 of wayfaring men;^H732 that I might leave^H5800 my people,^H5971 and go^H3212 from them! for they are all adulterers,^H5003 an assembly^H6116 of treacherous men.^H898

And it shall come to pass, when thou shalt show^H5046 this people^H5971 all these words,^H1697 and they shall say^H559 unto thee, Wherefore hath Jehovah^H3068 pronounced^H1696 all this great^H1419 evil^H7451 against us? or what is our iniquity?^H5771 or what is our sin^H2403 that we have committed^H2398 against Jehovah^H3068 our God?^H430

Jerusalem^H3389 hath grievously^H2399 sinned;^H2398 therefore she is become^H5206 as an unclean thing; All that honored^H3513 her despise^H2107 her, because they have seen^H7200 her nakedness:^H6172 Yea, she sigheth,^H584 and turneth^H7725 backward.^H268

Thus will I make thy lewdness^H2154 to cease^H7673 from thee, and thy whoredom^H2184 [brought] from the land^H776 of Egypt;^H4714 so that thou shalt not lift up^H5375 thine eyes^H5869 unto them, nor remember^H2142 Egypt^H4714 any more.

for their mother^H517 hath played the harlot;^H2181 she that conceived^H2029 them hath done shamefully;^H3001 for she said,^H559 I will go^H3212 after^H310 my lovers,^H157 that give^H5414 me my bread^H3899 and my water,^H4325 my wool^H6785 and my flax,^H6593 mine oil^H8081 and my drink.^H8250

And Ephraim^H669 said,^H559 Surely I am become rich,^H6238 I have found me^H4672 wealth:^H202 in all my labors^H3018 they shall find^H4672 in me no iniquity^H5771 that were sin.^H2399

And it shall come to pass at that time,^H6256 that I will search^H2664 Jerusalem^H3389 with lamps;^H5216 and I will punish^H6485 the men^H582 that are settled^H7087 on their lees,^H8105 that say^H559 in their heart,^H3824 Jehovah^H3068 will not do good,^H3190 neither will he do evil.^H7489
