And^G1161 they said,^G2036 Some^G3303 [say] John^G2491 the Baptist;^G910 some,^G1161 Elijah;^G2243 and^G1161 others,^G2087 Jeremiah,^G2408 or^G2228 one^G1520 of the prophets.^G4396

And^G1161 the multitudes^G3793 said,^G3004 This^G3778 is^G2076 the prophet,^G4396 Jesus,^G2424 from^G575 Nazareth^G3478 of Galilee.^G1056

And^G1161 he said^G611 unto them,^G846 Elijah^G2243 indeed cometh^G2064 first,^G4412 and^G2532 restoreth^G600 all things:^G3956 and^G2532 how^G4459 is it written^G1125 of^G1909 the Son^G5207 of man,^G444 that^G2443 he should suffer^G3958 many things^G4183 and^G2532 be set at nought?^G1847

And^G2532 he^G846 shall go^G4281 before^G1799 his face^G846 in^G1722 the spirit^G4151 and^G2532 power^G1411 of Elijah,^G2243 to turn^G1994 the hearts^G2588 of the fathers^G3962 to^G1722 the children,^G5043 and^G2532 the disobedient^G545 [to]^G1722 [walk] in the wisdom^G5428 of the just;^G1342 to make ready^G2090 for the Lord^G2962 a people^G2992 prepared^G2680 [for him].

Now^G1161 when^G1492 the Pharisee^G5330 that^G3588 had bidden^G2564 him^G846 saw^G1492 it, he spake^G3004 within^G1722 himself,^G1438 saying,^G2036 This man,^G3778 if^G1487 he were^G2258 a prophet,^G4396 would^G302 have perceived^G1097 who^G5101 and^G2532 what manner^G4217 of woman^G1135 this is that^G3748 toucheth^G680 him,^G846 that^G3754 she is^G2076 a sinner.^G268

And they^G3588 answering^G611 said,^G2036 John^G2491 the Baptist;^G910 but^G1161 others^G243 [say], Elijah;^G2243 and^G1161 others,^G243 that^G3754 one^G5100 of the^G4396 old^G744 prophets^G4396 is risen again.^G450

And^G2532 they asked^G2065 him,^G846 and^G2532 said^G2036 unto him,^G846 Why^G5101 then^G3767 baptizest thou,^G907 if^G1487 thou^G4771 art^G1488 not^G3756 the Christ,^G5547 neither^G3777 Elijah,^G2243 neither^G3777 the prophet?^G4396

[ Some]^G4183 of^G1537 the multitude^G3793 therefore,^G3767 when they heard^G191 these words,^G3056 said,^G3056 This^G3778 is^G2076 of a truth^G230 the prophet.^G4396
