And David^H1732 consulted^H3289 with the captains^H8269 of thousands^H505 and of hundreds,^H3967 even with every leader.^H5057

Then David^H1732 the king^H4428 stood up^H6965 upon his feet,^H7272 and said,^H559 Hear^H8085 me, my brethren,^H251 and my people:^H5971 as for me, it was in my heart^H3824 to build^H1129 a house^H1004 of rest^H4496 for the ark^H727 of the covenant^H1285 of Jehovah,^H3068 and for the footstool^H1916 of our God;^H430 and I had made ready^H3559 for the building.^H1129

And when Asa^H609 heard^H8085 these words,^H1697 and the prophecy^H5016 of Oded^H5752 the prophet,^H5030 he took courage,^H2388 and put away^H5674 the abominations^H8251 out of all the land^H776 of Judah^H3063 and Benjamin,^H1144 and out of the cities^H5892 which he had taken^H3920 from the hill-country^H2022 of Ephraim;^H669 and he renewed^H2318 the altar^H4196 of Jehovah,^H3068 that was before^H6440 the porch^H197 of Jehovah.^H3068

And Jehoshaphat^H3092 dwelt^H3427 at Jerusalem:^H3389 and he went out^H3318 again^H7725 among the people^H5971 from Beer-sheba^H884 to the hill-country^H2022 of Ephraim,^H669 and brought them back^H7725 unto Jehovah,^H3068 the God^H430 of their fathers.^H1

And he took away^H5493 the foreign^H5236 gods,^H430 and the idol^H5566 out of the house^H1004 of Jehovah,^H3068 and all the altars^H4196 that he had built^H1129 in the mount^H2022 of the house^H1004 of Jehovah,^H3068 and in Jerusalem,^H3389 and cast^H7993 them out^H2351 of the city.^H5892

Moreover from the time^H3117 that I was appointed^H6680 to be their governor^H6346 in the land^H776 of Judah,^H3063 from the twentieth^H6242 year^H8141 even unto the two^H8147 and thirtieth^H7970 year^H8141 of Artaxerxes^H783 the king,^H4428 [that is], twelve^H8147 years,^H8141 I and my brethren^H251 have not eaten^H398 the bread^H3899 of the governor.^H6346

And kings^H4428 shall be thy nursing fathers,^H539 and their queens^H8282 thy nursing mothers:^H3243 they shall bow down^H7812 to thee with their faces^H639 to the earth,^H776 and lick^H3897 the dust^H6083 of thy feet;^H7272 and thou shalt know^H3045 that I am Jehovah;^H3068 and they that wait^H6960 for me shall not be put to shame.^H954

For^G1063 David,^G1138 after he had in his own^G2398 generation^G1074 served^G5256 the counsel^G1012 of God,^G2316 fell asleep,^G2837 and^G2532 was laid^G4369 unto^G4314 his^G846 fathers,^G3962 and^G2532 saw^G1492 corruption:^G3303

For^G1063 if^G1437 I preach the gospel,^G2097 I^G3427 have^G2076 nothing^G3756 to glory of;^G2745 for^G1063 necessity^G318 is laid^G1945 upon me;^G3427 for^G1161 woe^G3759 is^G2076 unto me,^G3427 if^G1437 I preach^G2097 not^G3361 the gospel.^G2097

Charge^G3853 them that are rich^G4145 in^G1722 this^G3568 present world,^G165 that they be^G5309 not^G3361 highminded,^G5309 nor^G3366 have their hope^G1679 set on^G1909 the uncertainty^G83 of riches,^G4149 but^G235 on^{G1722 G2198} God,^G2316 who giveth^G3930 us^G2254 richly^G4146 all things^G3956 to^G1519 enjoy;^G619

But^G1161 be thou^G4771 sober^G3525 in^G1722 all things,^G3956 suffer hardship,^G2553 do^G4160 the work^G2041 of an evangelist,^G2099 fulfil^G4135 thy^G4675 ministry.^G1248
