And it shall be a statute^H2708 for ever^H5769 unto you: in the seventh^H7637 month,^H2320 on the tenth^H6218 day of the month,^H2320 ye shall afflict^H6031 your souls,^H5315 and shall do^H6213 no manner of work,^H4399 the home-born,^H249 or the stranger^H1616 that sojourneth^H1481 among^H8432 you:

It shall be unto you a sabbath^H7676 of solemn rest,^H7677 and ye shall afflict^H6031 your souls:^H5315 in the ninth^H8672 day of the month^H2320 at even,^H6153 from even^H6153 unto even,^H6153 shall ye keep^H7673 your sabbath.^H7676

Then I proclaimed^H7121 a fast^H6685 there, at the river^H5104 Ahava,^H163 that we might humble^H6031 ourselves before^H6440 our God,^H430 to seek^H1245 of him a straight^H3477 way^H1870 for us, and for our little ones,^H2945 and for all our substance.^H7399

Is such the fast^H6685 that I have chosen?^H977 the day^H3117 for a man^H120 to afflict^H6031 his soul?^H5315 Is it to bow down^H3721 his head^H7218 as a rush,^H100 and to spread^H3331 sackcloth^H8242 and ashes^H665 under him? wilt thou call^H7121 this^H2088 a fast,^H6685 and an acceptable^H7522 day^H3117 to Jehovah?^H3068

But^G1161 I would have^G2309 you^G5209 know,^G1492 that^G3754 the head^G2776 of every^G3956 man^G435 is^G2076 Christ;^G5547 and^G1161 the head^G2776 of the woman^G1135 is the man;^G435 and^G1161 the head^G2776 of Christ^G5547 is God.^G2316

In like manner,^G3668 ye wives,^G1135 [be] in subjection^G5293 to your own^G2398 husbands;^G435 that,^G2443 even^G2532 if^G1487 any^G5100 obey not^G544 the word,^G3056 they may^G2770 without^G427 the word^G3056 be gained^G2770 by^G1223 the behavior^G391 of their wives;^G1135
