He tolde also this similitude. A certaine man had a figge tree planted in his vineyarde, and he came, and sought fruite theron, and founde none.
If this man were not of God, he coulde haue done nothyng.
Ye haue not chosen me, but I haue chosen you, and ordayned you, to go, and bryng foorth fruite, and that your fruite shoulde remayne, that whatsoeuer ye aske of the father in my name, he may geue it you.
But nowe ye beyng made free from sinne, and made the seruauntes of God, haue your fruite vnto holynesse, and the ende euerlastyng lyfe.
So, we beyng many, are one body in Christe, and euery one members one of another.
For as the body is one, & hath many members, and all the members of one body, though they be many, yet are but one body: euen so is Christe.
He that ministreth seede vnto ye sower, ministreth bread also for foode, and multiplieth your seede, and encreaseth the fruites of your ryghteousnesse:
But the fruite of the spirite is, loue, ioye, peace, long sufferyng, gentlenesse, goodnesse, fayth,
Beyng fylled with the fruites of righteousnesse, which are by Iesus Christ, vnto the glorie and prayse of God.
Not that I desire a gyft, but I desire fruite aboundyng to your accompt.
That ye myght walke worthie of the Lorde in all pleasyng, beyng fruitefull in all good workes, and encreasyng in the knowledge of God,
To whom ye come, as vnto a lyuyng stone, disalowed of men, but chosen of God and precious:
But growe in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lorde and sauiour Iesus Christe, to whom be glorie both nowe and for euer. Amen.
