For one sayde to another: behold, this notable dreamer commeth.

But as for me I am a worme and no man: a very scorne of men, and an outcast of the people.

I may tell all my bones. They stande staring & gasing vpon me:

O let not my deceiptfull enemies triumph ouer me: let them not winke with an eye, that hate me without a cause.

For they persecute hym whom thou hast smitten: and they talke of the griefe of them whom thou hast wounded.

Behold this is my seruaunt vpon whom I leane, my elect in who my soule is pacified: I haue geuen my spirite vpon him, that he may shewe foorth iudgement among the gentiles.

He is dispised and abhorred of men, he is such a man as hath good experience of sorowes and infirmities: We haue reckened hym so vile, that we hyd our faces from hym.

Moreouer, vpon the house of Dauid & vpon the citezins of Hierusalem wyll I poure out the spirite of grace & compassion, so that they shall loke vpon me whom they haue pearsed, and they shal lamet for him as men mourne for their onely begotten sonne: yea, and be sory for him, as men are sory for their first childe.

Beholde my childe whom I haue chosen, my beloued in whom my soule well delighteth: I wyll put my spirite vpon him, and he shall shewe iudgement to the gentiles.

And they that went by, rayled on him, wagging their heades, and saying: A wretche, thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three dayes,

Art thou very Christe, tell vs? And he sayde vnto them: If I tell you, you wyll not beleue:
