To do righteousnes and iudgement, is more acceptable to the Lorde then sacrifice.
Thinke ye this fast pleaseth me, that a man shoulde chasten hym selfe for a day? and to hang downe his head like a bulrushe, and to lye vpon the earth in an heerie cloth? Should that be called fasting, or a day that pleaseth the Lord?
For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice: and the knowledge of God more then burnt offeringes.
Wherewith shall I come before the Lorde, and bowe my selfe to the hye God? Shall I come before him with burnt offeringes, and with calues of a yere olde?
Wherfore if ye wist what this meaneth, I will mercie & not sacrifice: ye woulde not haue condempned the giltlesse.
Aboue when he saith, that sacrifice, and offeryng, and burnt offeringes, and sinne offerynges thou wouldest not, neither haddest pleasure therein (which are offered by the lawe:)
