And they answered him, saying, No, but we will bynde thee and deliuer thee vnto their hande, but we will not kill thee; they bound him with two newe cordes, & brought him from the rocke.

Delilah therefore tooke newe ropes, and bounde him therewith, and saide vnto him, The Philistims be vpon thee, Samson: (and men lay in wayte in the chamber) and hee brake them from his armes, as a threede.

Pilate then went out vnto them, and said, What accusation bring yee against this man?

Saue that ye holy Ghost witnesseth in euery citie, saying, that bondes and afflictions abide me.

The chiefe captaine commanded him to be led into the castle, and bade that he should be scourged, and examined, that he might knowe wherefore they cryed so on him.

To whome I answered, that it is not the maner of the Romanes for fauour to deliuer any man to the death, before that hee which is accused, haue the accusers before him, and haue place to defend himselfe, concerning the crime.

For this cause therefore haue I called for you, to see you, and to speake with you: for that hope of Israels sake, I am bound with this chaine.

The Lord giue mercie vnto the house of Onesiphorus: for he oft refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chaine,
