Back to passage

Nowe when God caused me to wander out of my fathers house, I said then to her, This is thy kindnes that thou shalt shewe vnto me in all places where we come, Say thou of me, He is my brother.

And he called the name of the place, Massah and Meribah, because of the contention of the children of Israel, and because they had tempted the Lorde, saying, Is the Lorde among vs, or no?

If thy brother, the sonne of thy mother, or thine owne sonne, or thy daughter, or the wife, that lyeth in thy bosome, or thy friend, which is as thine owne soule, intice thee secretly, saying, Let vs goe and serue other gods, (which thou hast not knowen, thou, I say, nor thy fathers)

For when thou seest a thiefe, thou runnest with him, & thou art partaker with the adulterers.

How oft did they prouoke him in the wildernes? and grieue him in the desert?

Harden not your heart, as in Meribah, and as in the day of Massah in the wildernesse.

All that are proude in heart, are an abomination to the Lord: though hand ioyne in hand, he shall not be vnpunished.

Iesus saide vnto him, It is written againe, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

Acts 5:3 TSK

Nowe therefore, why tempt ye God, to lay a yoke on the disciples neckes, which neither our fathers, nor we were able to beare?

Now we know that whatsoeuer ye Lawe saieth, it saieth it to them which are vnder ye Law, that euery mouth may bee stopped, and all the world be subiect to the iudgement of God.

Neither let vs tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted him, and were destroyed of serpents.
