Then the LORD said to Moses,“You are about to die, and then these people will begin to prostitute themselves with the foreign gods of the land into which they are going. They will reject me and break my covenant that I have made with them.

So David comforted his wife Bathsheba. He came to her and went to bed with her. Later she gave birth to a son, and David named him Solomon. Now the LORD loved the child

Then David passed away and was buried in the City of David.

The LORD has kept the promise he made. I have taken my father David’s place and have occupied the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised. I have built this temple for the honor of the LORD God of Israel

For we are resident foreigners and temporary settlers in your presence, like all our ancestors; our days are like a shadow on the earth, without security.

But you will not build the temple; your very own son will build the temple for my honor.’

The LORD made a reliable promise to David; he will not go back on his word. He said,“I will place one of your descendants on your throne.

“Brothers, I can speak confidently to you about our forefather David, that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.
