The Return to Bethel Then God said to Jacob,“Go up at once to Bethel and live there. Make an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you fled from your brother Esau.”

If a man makes a vow to the LORD or takes an oath of binding obligation on himself, he must not break his word, but must do whatever he has promised.

Present to God a thank-offering! Repay your vows to the Most High!

Make vows to the LORD your God and repay them! Let all those who surround him bring tribute to the awesome one!

Yes, LORD! I am indeed your servant; I am your servant, the son of your female servant. You saved me from death.

He is not enamored with the strength of a horse, nor is he impressed by the warrior’s strong legs.

The LORD will reveal himself to the Egyptians, and they will acknowledge the LORD’s authority at that time. They will present sacrifices and offerings; they will make vows to the LORD and fulfill them.

“I wish that one of you would close the temple doors, so that you no longer would light useless fires on my altar. I am not pleased with you,” says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies,“and I will no longer accept an offering from you.

“Whole burnt offerings and sin-offerings you took no delight in.
