The Obedience of Abram Now the LORD said to Abram,“Go out from your country, your relatives, and your father’s household to the land that I will show you.

Abram bowed down with his face to the ground, and God said to him,

The LORD appeared to him that night and said,“I am the God of your father Abraham. Do not be afraid, for I am with you. I will bless you and multiply your descendants for the sake of my servant Abraham.”

He was afraid and said,“What an awesome place this is! This is nothing else than the house of God! This is the gate of heaven!”

Then Jacob prayed,“O God of my father Abraham, God of my father Isaac, O LORD, you said to me,‘Return to your land and to your relatives and I will make you prosper.’

God also said to Moses,“You must say this to the Israelites,‘The LORD– the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob– has sent me to you. This is my name forever, and this is my memorial from generation to generation.’

I will reside among the Israelites, and I will be their God,

Pay attention, Israel, and be careful to do this so that it may go well with you and that you may increase greatly in number– as the LORD, God of your ancestors, said to you, you will have a land flowing with milk and honey.

When it was time for the evening offering, Elijah the prophet approached the altar and prayed:“O LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, prove today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things at your command.

“You saw the affliction of our ancestors in Egypt, and you heard their cry at the Red Sea.

I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye has seen you.

and how he made a vow to the LORD, and swore an oath to the Powerful One of Jacob.

Seraphs stood over him; each one had six wings. With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and they used the remaining two to fly.

I will give them the desire to acknowledge that I am the LORD. I will be their God and they will be my people. For they will wholeheartedly return to me.’

They will be my people, and I will be their God.

Only I, Daniel, saw the vision; the men who were with me did not see it. On the contrary, they were overcome with fright and ran away to hide.

When the disciples heard this, they were overwhelmed with fear and threw themselves down with their faces to the ground.

Now as for the dead being raised, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the passage about the bush, how God said to him,‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’?

But even Moses revealed that the dead are raised in the passage about the bush, where he calls the Lord the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.

I have certainly seen the suffering of my people who are in Egypt and have heard their groaning, and I have come down to rescue them. Now come, I will send you to Egypt.’

When I saw him I fell down at his feet as though I were dead, but he placed his right hand on me and said:“Do not be afraid! I am the first and the last,
