Come, let’s go down and confuse their language so they won’t be able to understand each other.”

Then their father Israel said to them,“If it must be so, then do this: Take some of the best products of the land in your bags, and take a gift down to the man– a little balm and a little honey, spices and myrrh, pistachios and almonds.

and I have promised that I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt to the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites, to a land flowing with milk and honey.”’

And on this very day the LORD brought the Israelites out of the land of Egypt by their regiments.

If you afflict them in any way and they cry to me, I will surely hear their cry,

Go up to a land flowing with milk and honey. But I will not go up among you, for you are a stiff-necked people, and I might destroy you on the way.”

So I have said to you: You yourselves will possess their land and I myself will give it to you for a possession, a land flowing with milk and honey. I am the LORD your God who has set you apart from the other peoples.

and whether the land they live in is good or bad, and whether the cities they inhabit are like camps or fortified cities,

They said to the whole community of the Israelites,“The land we passed through to investigate is an exceedingly good land.

Then they took some of the produce of the land and carried it back down to us. They also brought a report to us, saying,“The land that the LORD our God is about to give us is good.”

The Dispossession of Nonvassals When the LORD your God brings you to the land that you are going to occupy and forces out many nations before you– Hittites, Girgashites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites, seven nations more numerous and powerful than you–

and that you may enjoy long life in the land the LORD promised to give to your ancestors and their descendants, a land flowing with milk and honey.

Then you must inscribe on them all the words of this law when you cross over, so that you may enter the land the LORD your God is giving you, a land flowing with milk and honey just as the LORD, the God of your ancestors, said to you.

Indeed, for forty years the Israelites traveled through the wilderness until all the men old enough to fight when they left Egypt, the ones who had disobeyed the LORD, died off. For the LORD had sworn a solemn oath to them that he would not let them see the land he had sworn by oath to their ancestors to give them, a land rich in milk and honey.

The men of Israel said to the Hivites,“Perhaps you live near us. So how can we make a treaty with you?”

When you perceived that his heart was faithful toward you, you established a covenant with him to give his descendants the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, and the Girgashites. You have fulfilled your promise, for you are righteous.

“Because of the violence done to the oppressed, because of the painful cries of the needy, I will spring into action,” says the LORD.“I will provide the safety they so desperately desire.”

He made the sky sink as he descended; a thick cloud was under his feet.

Taste and see that the LORD is good! How blessed is the one who takes shelter in him!

until I come and take you to a land just like your own– a land of grain and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards.

I brought you into a fertile land so you could enjoy its fruits and its rich bounty. But when you entered my land, you defiled it; you made the land I call my own loathsome to me.

You kept the promise that you swore on oath to their ancestors. You gave them a land flowing with milk and honey.

No one has ascended into heaven except the one who descended from heaven– the Son of Man.
