God’s Grief over Humankind’s Wickedness When humankind began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them,

God’s Covenant with Humankind through Noah Then God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them,“Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth.

I will bless her and will give you a son through her. I will bless her and she will become a mother of nations. Kings of countries will come from her!”

I will indeed bless you, and I will greatly multiply your descendants so that they will be as countless as the stars in the sky or the grains of sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the strongholds of their enemies.

Stay in this land. Then I will be with you and will bless you, for I will give all these lands to you and to your descendants, and I will fulfill the solemn promise I made to your father Abraham.

When Esau looked up and saw the women and the children, he asked,“Who are these people with you?” Jacob replied,“The children whom God has graciously given your servant.”

I will turn to you, make you fruitful, multiply you, and maintain my covenant with you.

So the LORD blessed the second part of Job’s life more than the first. He had 14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 1,000 yoke of oxen, and 1,000 female donkeys.

Let the heavens and the earth praise him, along with the seas and everything that swims in them!

The heavens belong to the LORD, but the earth he has given to mankind.

Your wife will be like a fruitful vine in the inner rooms of your house; your children will be like olive branches, as they sit all around your table.

They will prohibit marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.
