The diligent person will rule, but the slothful will be put to forced labor.

The way of the sluggard is like a hedge of thorns, but the path of the upright is like a highway.

I passed by the field of a sluggard, by the vineyard of one who lacks sense.

Do not lag in zeal, be enthusiastic in spirit, serve the Lord.

As a result we ourselves boast about you in the churches of God for your perseverance and faith in all the persecutions and afflictions you are enduring.

The Need to Move on to Maturity On this topic we have much to say and it is difficult to explain, since you have become sluggish in hearing.

For you need endurance in order to do God’s will and so receive what is promised.

Through faith they conquered kingdoms, administered justice, gained what was promised, shut the mouths of lions,

Remember your leaders, who spoke God’s message to you; reflect on the outcome of their lives and imitate their faith.

As an example of suffering and patience, brothers and sisters, take the prophets who spoke in the Lord’s name.

Therefore, brothers and sisters, make every effort to be sure of your calling and election. For by doing this you will never stumble into sin.

If anyone is meant for captivity, into captivity he will go. If anyone is to be killed by the sword, then by the sword he must be killed.This requires steadfast endurance and faith from the saints.
