Moreover, he must not accumulate horses for himself or allow the people to return to Egypt to do so, for the LORD has said you must never again return that way.

You have taken notice, for you always see one who inflicts pain and suffering. The unfortunate victim entrusts his cause to you; you deliver the fatherless.

A horse disappoints those who trust in it for victory; despite its great strength, it cannot deliver.

Do not trust in princes, or in human beings, who cannot deliver!

Do not move an ancient boundary stone, or take over the fields of the fatherless,

At that time men will throw their silver and gold idols, which they made for themselves to worship, into the caves where rodents and bats live,

They travel down to Egypt without seeking my will, seeking Pharaoh’s protection, and looking for safety in Egypt’s protective shade.

Egypt Will Disappoint Those who go down to Egypt for help are as good as dead, those who rely on war horses, and trust in Egypt’s many chariots and in their many, many horsemen. But they do not rely on the Holy One of Israel and do not seek help from the LORD.

Now make a deal with my master the king of Assyria, and I will give you two thousand horses, provided you can find enough riders for them.

I will sprinkle you with pure water and you will be clean from all your impurities. I will purify you from all your idols.

He said to me:“Son of man, this is the place of my throne and the place for the soles of my feet, where I will live among the people of Israel forever. When Ephraim saw his sickness and Judah saw his wound, then Ephraim turned to Assyria, and begged its great king for help. But he will not be able to heal you! He cannot cure your wound!

That idol was made by a workman– it is not God! The calf idol of Samaria will be broken to bits.

Ephraim continually feeds on the wind; he chases the east wind all day; he multiplies lies and violence. They make treaties with Assyria, and send olive oil as tribute to Egypt.

Then the LORD commanded the fish and it disgorged Jonah on dry land.

And also on that day,” says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies,“I will remove the names of the idols from the land and they will never again be remembered. Moreover, I will remove the prophets and the unclean spirit from the land.
