The Philistines abandoned their idols there, and David and his men picked them up.

But he does not agree with this, his mind does not reason this way, for his goal is to destroy, and to eliminate many nations.

I overpowered kingdoms ruled by idols, whose carved images were more impressive than Jerusalem’s or Samaria’s.

The dead do not come back to life, the spirits of the dead do not rise. That is because you came in judgment and destroyed them, you wiped out all memory of them.

A craftsman casts an idol; a metalsmith overlays it with gold and forges silver chains for it.

Look, you are nothing, and your accomplishments are nonexistent; the one who chooses to worship you is disgusting.

All who form idols are nothing; the things in which they delight are worthless. Their witnesses cannot see; they recognize nothing, so they are put to shame.

The Lord Carries His People Bel kneels down, Nebo bends low. Their images weigh down animals and beasts. Your heavy images are burdensome to tired animals.

You people of Israel should tell those nations this:‘These gods did not make heaven and earth. They will disappear from the earth and from under the heavens.’
