So Jacob named the place Peniel, explaining,“Certainly I have seen God face to face and have survived.”

Then the priest must offer it up in smoke on the altar as a food gift to the LORD.

The LORD’s angel said to him,“You should not ask me my name, because you cannot comprehend it.”

He brings an end to wars throughout the earth; he shatters the bow and breaks the spear; he burns the shields with fire.

For this reason the Sovereign LORD of Heaven’s Armies, will make his healthy ones emaciated. His majestic glory will go up in smoke.

For the burial place is already prepared; it has been made deep and wide for the king. The firewood is piled high on it. The LORD’s breath, like a stream flowing with brimstone, will ignite it.

For look, the LORD comes with fire, his chariots come like a windstorm, to reveal his raging anger, his battle cry, and his flaming arrows.

Fathers will hear the hoofbeats of the enemies’ horses, the clatter of their chariots and the rumbling of their wheels. They will not turn back to save their children because they will be paralyzed with fear.
