The LORD created me as the beginning of his works, before his deeds of long ago.

A King Will Come and a Remnant Will Prosper(5:1) As for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, seemingly insignificant among the clans of Judah– from you a king will emerge who will rule over Israel on my behalf, one whose origins are in the distant past.

The Baptism of Jesus Then Jesus came from Galilee to John to be baptized by him in the Jordan River.

John answered them all,“I baptize you with water, but one more powerful than I am is coming– I am not worthy to untie the strap of his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

You have sent to John, and he has testified to the truth.

And now, Father, glorify me at your side with the glory I had with you before the world was created.

He himself is before all things and all things are held together in him.

saying:“Write in a book what you see and send it to the seven churches– to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea.”
