“You shall have no other gods before me.

For you must not worship any other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.

The LORD solemnly warned Israel and Judah through all his prophets and all the seers,“Turn back from your evil ways; obey my commandments and rules that are recorded in the law. I ordered your ancestors to keep this law and sent my servants the prophets to remind you of its demands.”

The LORD made a covenant with them and instructed them,“You must not worship other gods. Do not bow down to them, serve them, or offer sacrifices to them.

You must never forget the covenant I made with you, and you must not worship other gods.

For I did not obey my teachers and I did not heed my instructors.

Let us acknowledge our shame. Let us bear the disgrace that we deserve. For we have sinned against the LORD our God, both we and our ancestors. From earliest times to this very day we have not obeyed the LORD our God.’

The LORD says,“Do not start following pagan religious practices. Do not be in awe of signs that occur in the sky even though the nations hold them in awe.

This day I have told you what he said. But you do not want to obey the LORD your God by doing what he sent me to tell you.

They went on to Egypt because they refused to obey the LORD, and came to Tahpanhes.

But not all have obeyed the good news, for Isaiah says,“Lord, who has believed our report?”
