But Abel brought some of the firstborn of his flock– even the fattest of them. And the LORD was pleased with Abel and his offering,

“The first of the firstfruits of your soil you must bring to the house of the LORD your God.You must not cook a young goat in its mother’s milk.”

and to teach the Israelites all the statutes that the LORD has spoken to them through Moses.”

Then in the fifth year you may eat its fruit to add its produce to your harvest. I am the LORD your God.

You must celebrate it as a pilgrim festival to the LORD for seven days in the year. This is a perpetual statute throughout your generations; you must celebrate it in the seventh month.

You must offer up a cake of the first of your finely ground flour as a raised offering; as you offer the raised offering of the threshing floor, so you must offer it up.

They ate some of the produce of the land the day after the Passover, including unleavened bread and roasted grain.

The LORD’s precepts are fair and make one joyful. The LORD’s commands are pure and give insight for life.
