“Is it to God that a strong man is of benefit? Is it to him that even a wise man is profitable?

I say to the LORD,“You are the Lord, my only source of well-being.”

All a person’s ways seem right in his own opinion, but the LORD evaluates the motives.

We are all like one who is unclean, all our so-called righteous acts are like a menstrual rag in your sight. We all wither like a leaf; our sins carry us away like the wind.

And throw that worthless slave into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

All have turned away, together they have become worthless; there is no one who shows kindness, not even one.”

For if I preach the gospel, I have no reason for boasting, because I am compelled to do this. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel!

More than that, I now regard all things as liabilities compared to the far greater value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things– indeed, I regard them as dung!– that I may gain Christ,

In the same way, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. And all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.
