King David rose to his feet and said:“Listen to me, my brothers and my people. I wanted to build a temple where the ark of the LORD’s covenant could be placed as a footstool for our God. I have made the preparations for building it.

This is what Hezekiah did throughout Judah. He did what the LORD his God considered good and right and faithful.

Your people willingly follow you when you go into battle. On the holy hills at sunrise the dew of your youth belongs to you.

Then he took it down, wrapped it in a linen cloth, and placed it in a tomb cut out of the rock, where no one had yet been buried.

So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the two men who had been crucified with Jesus, first the one and then the other.

For if the eagerness is present, the gift itself is acceptable according to whatever one has, not according to what he does not have.
