Then Judah said to his brothers,“What profit is there if we kill our brother and cover up his blood?

If the ox gores a male servant or a female servant, the owner must pay thirty shekels of silver, and the ox must be stoned.

The rulers of the Philistines went up to visit her and said to her,“Trick him! Find out what makes him so strong and how we can subdue him and humiliate him. Each one of us will give you eleven hundred silver pieces.”

They said to him,“Shut up! Put your hand over your mouth and come with us! You can be our adviser and priest. Wouldn’t it be better to be a priest for a whole Israelite tribe than for just one man’s family?”

Then I said to them,“If it seems good to you, pay me my wages, but if not, forget it.” So they weighed out my payment– thirty pieces of silver.

(Now this man Judas acquired a field with the reward of his unjust deed, and falling headfirst he burst open in the middle and all his intestines gushed out.

Those who long to be rich, however, stumble into temptation and a trap and many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.

Their eyes, full of adultery, never stop sinning; they entice unstable people. They have trained their hearts for greed, these cursed children!
