For the music director; according to the tune“Morning Doe;” a psalm of David. My God, my God, why have you abandoned me? I groan in prayer, but help seems far away.

But you, O God, will bring them down to the deep Pit. Violent and deceitful people will not live even half a normal lifespan. But as for me, I trust in you.

Appoint an evil man to testify against him! May an accuser stand at his right side!

Who would have believed what we just heard? When was the LORD’s power revealed through him?

“I will pour out on the kingship of David and the population of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication so that they will look to me, the one they have pierced. They will lament for him as one laments for an only son, and there will be a bitter cry for him like the bitter cry for a firstborn.

Woe to the world because of stumbling blocks! It is necessary that stumbling blocks come, but woe to the person through whom they come.

But this has happened so that the scriptures of the prophets would be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples left him and fled.

He said to them,“Elijah does indeed come first, and restores all things. And why is it written that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be despised?

For the Son of Man is to go just as it has been determined, but woe to that man by whom he is betrayed!”

and said to them,“Thus it stands written that the Christ would suffer and would rise from the dead on the third day,

So the soldiers said to one another,“Let’s not tear it, but throw dice to see who will get it.” This took place to fulfill the scripture that says,“They divided my garments among them, and for my clothing they threw dice.” So the soldiers did these things.

For these things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled,“Not a bone of his will be broken.”

this man, who was handed over by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you executed by nailing him to a cross at the hands of Gentiles.

For the people who live in Jerusalem and their rulers did not recognize him, and they fulfilled the sayings of the prophets that are read every Sabbath by condemning him.

I have experienced help from God to this day, and so I stand testifying to both small and great, saying nothing except what the prophets and Moses said was going to happen:

For I passed on to you as of first importance what I also received– that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures,
