The Deposit of the Covenant Text Then Moses wrote down this law and gave it to the Levitical priests, who carry the ark of the LORD’s covenant, and to all Israel’s elders.

Ezra read in the book of the law of God day by day, from the first day to the last. They observed the festival for seven days, and on the eighth day they held an assembly as was required.

Further Reforms by Nehemiah On that day the book of Moses was read aloud in the hearing of the people. They found written in it that no Ammonite or Moabite may ever enter the assembly of God,

If David himself calls him‘Lord,’ how can he be his son?” And the large crowd was listening to him with delight.

So listen carefully, for whoever has will be given more, but whoever does not have, even what he thinks he has will be taken from him.”

After the reading from the law and the prophets, the leaders of the synagogue sent them a message, saying,“Brothers, if you have any message of exhortation for the people, speak it.”

For Moses has had those who proclaim him in every town from ancient times, because he is read aloud in the synagogues every Sabbath.”

These Jews were more open-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they eagerly received the message, examining the scriptures carefully every day to see if these things were so.

Then Paul went back upstairs, and after he had broken bread and eaten, he talked with them a long time, until dawn. Then he left.

And so we too constantly thank God that when you received God’s message that you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human message, but as it truly is, God’s message, which is at work among you who believe.

The one who has an ear had better hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’
