The Day of Atonement The LORD spoke to Moses:

When they were sick, I wore sackcloth, and refrained from eating food.(If I am lying, may my prayers go unanswered!)

At that time the Sovereign LORD of Heaven’s Armies, called for weeping and mourning, for shaved heads and sackcloth.

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

No, I tell you! But unless you repent you will all perish as well!”

Now I rejoice, not because you were made sad, but because you were made sad to the point of repentance. For you were made sad as God intended, so that you were not harmed in any way by us.
