Not only this, but we ourselves also, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we eagerly await our adoption, the redemption of our bodies.

Paul Defends His Changed Plans For our reason for confidence is this: the testimony of our conscience, that with pure motives and sincerity which are from God– not by human wisdom but by the grace of God– we conducted ourselves in the world, and all the more toward you.

Now the one who prepared us for this very purpose is God, who gave us the Spirit as a down payment.

And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

By this we know that we reside in God and he in us: in that he has given us of his Spirit.
