Back to passage

Until the day he died Samuel did not see Saul again. Samuel did, however, mourn for Saul, but the LORD regretted that he had made Saul king over Israel.

Be happy for Jerusalem and rejoice with her, all you who love her! Share in her great joy, all you who have mourned over her!

But if you will not pay attention to this warning, I will weep alone because of your arrogant pride. I will weep bitterly, and my eyes will overflow with tears because you, the LORD’s flock, will be carried into exile.”

Streams of tears flow from my eyes because my people are destroyed.

The LORD said to him,“Go through the city of Jerusalem and put a mark on the foreheads of the people who moan and groan over all the abominations practiced in it.”

Brothers and sisters, my heart’s desire and prayer to God on behalf of my fellow Israelites is for their salvation.

And I will grant my two witnesses authority to prophesy for 1,260 days, dressed in sackcloth.”
