The Departure of Saint Thaddaeus the Apostle
On this day, Saint Thaddaeus departed (it is said that he was Simon the Zealot, mentioned in the Gospel by Paul called Thaddaeus “Matthew 10:4”).
The Lord chose him among the twelve apostles. After receiving the grace of the Comforter with the disciples, he traveled the world, preached the Gospel, and brought many Jews and Gentiles to the knowledge of God and baptized them. Then he went to the land of Syria and preached to its people, and many believed through his hands. He endured many insults and tortures from Jews and Gentiles. Then he peacefully departed.
May his prayers be with us. And to our Lord be glory forever. Amen.
