السيرة
He was a contemporary of the Nine Saints who came from Upper Egypt to Ethiopia at the beginning of the sixth century (514-542 A.D.). It was he who put an end to Dhu Nuwas, also called Phineas, the Jewish king of Yemen, in order to deliver the Christians from his persecution, and he avenged the martyrs of Najran.
When he perceived God's help to him through many wonders, he sent his royal crown to Jerusalem to be displayed at the Holy Sepulchre, in acknowledgment of God's work with him. Then he renounced the world, forsook all things, and became a monk.
The Ethiopian Church regards him as the founder of monasticism in Ethiopia
