St. Agrippina

Story

She was regarded in the West as a patroness for the casting out of evil spirits, the healing of leprosy, and the calming of violent storms.

It is said that this holy virgin Agrippina was of a noble and wealthy family. In Rome she endured cruel torments with thanksgiving, and at last was martyred in the age of Valerian, and perhaps in the reign of Diocletian. Three women shrouded her body—Bassa, Paula, and Agathonice—and her body was conveyed to Mineo in Sicily—most likely her original homeland—where she was buried, and God manifested many wonders through her body.

Her body was transferred to Constantinople so that it might not be exposed to the desecration of unbelievers.

The Roman Church celebrates the feast of her martyrdom on June 23
