[For the Chief Musician; set to Shoshannim, [A Psalm] of David]. Save me, O God; For the waters are come in unto my soul.

The voice of one that crieth, Prepare ye in the wilderness the way of Jehovah; make level in the desert a highway for our God.

I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair; I hid not my face from shame and spitting.

Who hath believed our message? and to whom hath the arm of Jehovah been revealed?

And Jehovah said unto me, Cast it unto the potter, the goodly price that I was prized at by them. And I took the thirty [pieces] of silver, and cast them unto the potter, in the house of Jehovah.

And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers; lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.

Now when John heard in the prison the works of the Christ, he sent by his disciples

The Son of man goeth, even as it is written of him: but woe unto that man through whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had not been born. [

in the high-priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness.

And one of the malefactors that were hanged railed on him, saying, Art not thou the Christ? save thyself and us.

John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it have been given him from heaven.
