There came^H935 against the land^H776 Pul^H6322 the king^H4428 of Assyria;^H804 and Menahem^H4505 gave^H5414 Pul^H6322 a thousand^H505 talents^H3603 of silver,^H3701 that his hand^H3027 might be with him to confirm^H2388 the kingdom^H4467 in his hand.^H3027

Against him came up^H5927 Shalmaneser^H8022 king^H4428 of Assyria;^H804 and Hoshea^H1954 became his servant,^H5650 and brought^H7725 him tribute.^H4503

And they burnt^H8313 the house^H1004 of God,^H430 and brake down^H5422 the wall^H2346 of Jerusalem,^H3389 and burnt^H8313 all the palaces^H759 thereof with fire,^H784 and destroyed^H7843 all the goodly^H4261 vessels^H3627 thereof.

Jehovah^H3068 will bring^H935 upon thee, and upon thy people,^H5971 and upon thy father's^H1 house,^H1004 days^H3117 that have not come,^H935 from the day^H3117 that Ephraim^H669 departed^H5493 from [Judah—]^H3063 [even] the king^H4428 of Assyria.^H804

Ho Assyrian,^H804 the rod^H7626 of^H1945 mine anger,^H639 the staff^H4294 in whose hand^H3027 is mine indignation!^H2195

They shall not return^H7725 into the land^H776 of Egypt;^H4714 but the Assyrian^H804 shall be their king,^H4428 because they refused^H3985 to return^H7725 [to me].

For they know^H3045 not to do^H6213 right,^H5229 saith^H5002 Jehovah,^H3068 who store^H686 up violence^H2555 and robbery^H7701 in their palaces.^H759

The Lord^H136 Jehovah^H3068 hath sworn^H7650 by himself,^H5315 saith^H5002 Jehovah,^H3068 the God^H430 of hosts:^H6635 I abhor^H8374 the excellency^H1347 of Jacob,^H3290 and hate^H8130 his palaces;^H759 therefore will I deliver up^H5462 the city^H5892 with all that is therein.^H4393
