And it came to pass, while Israel^H3478 dwelt^H7931 in that land,^H776 that Reuben^H7205 went^H3212 and lay^H7901 with Bilhah^H1090 his father's^H1 concubine:^H6370 and Israel^H3478 heard^H8085 of it. Now the sons^H1121 of Jacob^H3290 were twelve:^H8147

Thou shalt have no other^H312 gods^H430 before^H6440 me.

The graven images^H6456 of their gods^H430 shall ye burn^H8313 with fire:^H784 thou shalt not covet^H2530 the silver^H3701 or the gold^H2091 that is on them, nor take^H3947 it unto thee, lest thou be snared^H3369 therein; for it is an abomination^H8441 to Jehovah^H3068 thy God.^H430

They moved him to jealousy^H7065 with strange^H2114 [gods]; With abominations^H8441 provoked they him to anger.^H3707

And Joshua^H3091 said^H559 unto all the people,^H5971 Thus saith^H559 Jehovah,^H3068 the God^H430 of Israel,^H3478 Your fathers^H1 dwelt^H3427 of old time^H5769 beyond^H5676 the River,^H5104 even Terah,^H8646 the father^H1 of Abraham,^H85 and the father^H1 of Nahor:^H5152 and they served^H5647 other^H312 gods.^H430

And if it seem evil^H7489 unto you^H4310 to serve^H5647 Jehovah,^H3068 choose^H977 you this day^H3117 whom^H5869 ye will serve;^H5647 whether the gods^H430 which your fathers^H1 served^H5647 that were beyond^H5676 the River,^H5104 or the gods^H430 of the Amorites,^H567 in whose land^H776 ye dwell:^H3427 but as for me and my house,^H1004 we will serve^H5647 Jehovah.^H3068

Now therefore put away,^H5493 [said he], the foreign^H5236 gods^H430 which are among^H7130 you, and incline^H5186 your heart^H3824 unto Jehovah,^H3068 the God^H430 of Israel.^H3478

And she said,^H559 Behold, thy sister-in-law^H2994 is gone back^H7725 unto her people,^H5971 and unto her god:^H430 return^H7725 thou after^H310 thy sister-in-law.^H2994

And what one^H259 nation^H1471 in the earth^H776 is like thy people,^H5971 even like Israel,^H3478 whom God^H430 went^H1980 to redeem^H6299 unto himself for a people,^H5971 and to make^H7760 him a name,^H8034 and to do^H6213 great things^H1420 for you, and terrible^H3372 things for thy land,^H776 before^H6440 thy people,^H5971 whom thou redeemest^H6299 to thee out of Egypt,^H4714 [from] the nations^H1471 and their gods?^H430

Are not Abanah^H71 and Pharpar,^H6554 the rivers^H5104 of Damascus,^H1834 better^H2896 than all the waters^H4325 of Israel?^H3478 may I not wash^H7364 in them, and be clean?^H2891 So he turned^H6437 and went away^H3212 in a rage.^H2534

For all the gods^H430 of the peoples^H5971 are idols:^H457 But Jehovah^H3068 made^H6213 the heavens.^H8064

Wash^H3526 me thoroughly^H7235 from mine iniquity,^H5771 And cleanse^H2891 me from my sin.^H2403

I will behave myself wisely^H7919 in a perfect^H8549 way:^H1870 Oh when wilt thou come^H935 unto me? I will walk^H1980 within^H7130 my house^H1004 with a perfect^H8537 heart.^H3824

Wash^H7364 you, make you clean;^H2135 put away^H5493 the evil^H7455 of your doings^H4611 from before^H5048 mine eyes;^H5869 cease^H2308 to do evil;^H7489

How^H335 can I pardon^H5545 thee? thy^H2063 children^H1121 have forsaken^H5800 me, and sworn^H7650 by them that are no^H3808 gods.^H430 When I had fed them to the full,^H7650 they committed adultery,^H5003 and assembled themselves in troops^H1413 at the harlots'^H2181 houses.^H1004

Shall a man^H120 make^H6213 unto himself gods,^H430 which yet are no gods?^H430

And I said^H559 unto them, Cast ye away^H7993 every man^H376 the abominations^H8251 of his eyes,^H5869 and defile^H2930 not yourselves with the idols^H1544 of Egypt;^H4714 I am Jehovah^H3068 your God.^H430

They drank^H8355 wine,^H2562 and praised^H7624 the gods^H426 of gold,^H1722 and of silver,^H3702 of brass,^H5174 of iron,^H6523 of wood,^H636 and of stone.^H69

And^G2532 ye see^G2334 and^G2532 hear,^G191 that^G3754 not^G3756 alone^G3440 at Ephesus,^G2181 but^G235 almost^G4975 throughout^G1223 all^G3956 Asia,^G773 this^G3778 Paul^G3972 hath persuaded^G3982 and turned away^G3179 much^G2425 people,^G3793 saying^G3004 that^G3754 they are^G1526 no^G3756 gods,^G2316 that are^G1526 made^G1096 with hands:^G5495

And^G1161 what^G5101 concord^G4857 hath Christ^G5547 with^G4314 Belial?^G955 or^G2228 what^G5101 portion^G3310 hath a believer^G4103 with^G3326 an unbeliever?^G571

Howbeit^G235 at that time,^G1492 not^G3756 knowing God,^G2316 ye were in bondage^G1398 to them that^G3588 by nature^G5449 are^G5607 no^G3361 gods:^G2316

Draw nigh^G1448 to God,^G2316 and^G2532 he will draw nigh^G1448 to you.^G5213 Cleanse^G2511 your hands,^G5495 ye sinners;^G268 and^G2532 purify^G48 your hearts,^G2588 ye doubleminded.^G1374

and^G1161 some^G3739 save,^G4982 snatching^G726 them out of^G1537 the fire;^G4442 and on some have mercy with^G1722 fear;^G5401 hating^G3404 even^G2532 the garment^G5509 spotted^G4695 by^G575 the flesh.^G4561
