Judah^H3063 and Israel^H3478 were many^H7227 as the sand^H2344 which is by the sea^H3220 in multitude,^H7230 eating^H398 and drinking^H8354 and making merry.^H8056

Then said^H559 I, Lord,^H136 how long? And he answered,^H559 Until cities^H5892 be waste^H7582 without inhabitant,^H3427 and houses^H1004 without man,^H120 and the land^H127 become utterly^H8077 waste,^H7582

and it shall sweep^H2498 onward into Judah;^H3063 it shall overflow^H7857 and pass through;^H5674 it shall reach^H5060 even to the neck;^H6677 and the stretching out^H4298 of its wings^H3671 shall fill^H4393 the breadth^H7341 of thy land,^H776 O Immanuel.^H6005

Because ye have said,^H559 We have made^H3772 a covenant^H1285 with death,^H4194 and with Sheol^H7585 are we^H6213 at agreement;^H2374 when the overflowing^H7857 scourge^H7752 shall pass through,^H5674 it shall not come^H935 unto us; for we have made^H7760 lies^H3577 our refuge,^H4268 and under falsehood^H8267 have we hid^H5641 ourselves:

And the remnant^H7604 that is escaped^H6413 of the house^H1004 of Judah^H3063 shall again^H3254 take root^H8328 downward,^H4295 and bear^H6213 fruit^H6529 upward.^H4605

Return,^H7725 O backsliding^H7726 children,^H1121 saith^H5002 Jehovah;^H3068 for I am a husband^H1166 unto you: and I will take^H3947 you one^H259 of a city,^H5892 and two^H8147 of a family,^H4940 and I will bring^H935 you to Zion:^H6726

And he shall make a firm^H1396 covenant^H1285 with many^H7227 for one^H259 week:^H7620 and in the midst^H2677 of the week^H7620 he shall cause the sacrifice^H2077 and the oblation^H4503 to cease;^H7673 and upon the wing^H3671 of abominations^H8251 [shall come] one that maketh desolate;^H8074 and even unto the full end,^H3617 and that determined,^H2782 shall [wrath] be poured^H5413 out upon the desolate.^H8074

But^G1161 if^G1487 our^G2257 righteousness^G1343 commendeth^G4921 the righteousness^G1343 of God,^G2316 what^G5101 shall we say?^G2046 Is God^G2316 unrighteous^G94 who visiteth^G2018 with wrath?^G3709 (I speak^G3004 after the manner^G2596 of men.)^G444

Even so^G3779 then^G3767 at^G1722 this present^G3568 time^G2540 also^G2532 there is^G1096 a remnant^G3005 according to^G2596 the election^G1589 of grace.^G5485
