lest, when thou hast eaten^H398 and art full,^H7646 and hast built^H1129 goodly^H2896 houses,^H1004 and dwelt^H3427 therein;

And they took^H3920 fortified^H1219 cities,^H5892 and a fat^H8082 land,^H127 and possessed^H3423 houses^H1004 full^H4392 of all good things,^H2898 cisterns^H953 hewn^H2672 out, vineyards,^H3754 and oliveyards,^H2132 and fruit -^H3978 trees^H6086 in abundance:^H7230 so they did eat,^H398 and were filled,^H7646 and became fat,^H8080 and delighted^H5727 themselves in thy great^H1419 goodness.^H2898

From men^H4962 by thy hand,^H3027 O Jehovah,^H3068 From men^H4962 of the world,^H2465 whose portion^H2506 is in [this] life,^H2416 And whose belly^H990 thou fillest^H4390 with thy treasure:^H6840 They are satisfied^H7646 with children,^H1121 And leave^H3240 the rest^H3499 of their substance to their babes.^H5768

For I was envious^H7065 at the arrogant,^H1984 When I saw^H7200 the prosperity^H7965 of the wicked.^H7563

Riches^H1952 profit^H3276 not in the day^H3117 of wrath;^H5678 But righteousness^H6666 delivereth^H5337 from death.^H4194

There is^H3426 a grievous^H2470 evil^H7451 which I have seen^H7200 under the sun,^H8121 [namely], riches^H6239 kept^H8104 by the owner^H1167 thereof to his hurt:^H7451

And in that day^H3117 did the Lord,^H136 Jehovah^H3069 of hosts,^H6635 call^H7121 to weeping,^H1065 and to mourning,^H4553 and to baldness,^H7144 and to girding^H2296 with sackcloth:^H8242

Thus saith^H559 Jehovah,^H3068 Let not the wise^H2450 man glory^H1984 in his wisdom,^H2451 neither let the mighty^H1368 man glory^H1984 in his might,^H1369 let not the rich^H6223 man glory^H1984 in his riches;^H6239

Awake,^H6974 ye drunkards,^H7910 and weep;^H1058 and wail,^H3213 all ye drinkers^H8354 of wine,^H3196 because of the sweet wine;^H6071 for it is cut off^H3772 from your mouth.^H6310

Gird^H2296 yourselves [with sackcloth], and lament,^H5594 ye priests;^H3548 wail,^H3213 ye ministers^H8334 of the altar;^H4196 come,^H935 lie all night^H3885 in sackcloth,^H8242 ye ministers^H8334 of my God:^H430 for the meal-offering^H4503 and the drink-offering^H5262 are withholden^H4513 from the house^H1004 of your God.^H430

For the rich men^H6223 thereof are full^H4390 of violence,^H2555 and the inhabitants^H3427 thereof have spoken^H1696 lies,^H8267 and their tongue^H3956 is deceitful^H7423 in their mouth.^H6310

Wail,^H3213 O fir-tree,^H1265 for the cedar^H730 is fallen,^H5307 because the goodly^H117 ones are destroyed:^H7703 wail,^H3213 O ye oaks^H437 of Bashan,^H1316 for the strong^H1208 forest^H3293 is come down.^H3381

But^G4133 woe^G3759 unto you^G5213 that are rich!^G4145 for^G3754 ye have received^G568 your^G5216 consolation.^G3874

Now there was^G2258 a certain^G5100 rich^G4145 man,^G444 and^G2532 he was clothed^G1737 in purple^G4209 and^G2532 fine linen,^G1040 faring^G2165 sumptuously^G2988 every^G2596 day:^G2250

But^G1161 they that are minded^G1014 to be rich^G4147 fall^G1706 into^G1519 a temptation^G3986 and^G2532 a snare^G3803 and^G2532 many^G4183 foolish^G453 and^G2532 hurtful^G983 lusts,^G1939 such as^G3748 drown^G1036 men^G444 in^G1519 destruction^G3639 and^G2532 perdition.^G684

But^G1161 ye^G5210 have dishonored^G818 the poor^G4434 man. Do^G2616 not^G3756 the rich^G4145 oppress^G2616 you,^G5216 and^G2532 themselves^G846 drag^G1670 you^G5209 before^G1519 the judgment-seats?^G2922

Come^G71 now,^G3568 ye^G3588 that say,^G3004 To-day^G4594 or^G2532 to-morrow^G839 we will go^G4198 into^G1519 this^G3592 city,^G4172 and^G2532 spend^G4160 a^G1520 year^G1763 there,^G1563 and^G2532 trade,^G1710 and^G2532 get gain:^G2770
