But he him selfe went a dayes iourney into the wildernesse, and came and sat downe vnder a Iuniper tree, and desired for his soule that he might dye, and sayde: It is nowe enough O Lorde, take my soule, for I am not better then my fathers.
O that I might haue my desire, and that God woulde graunt me the thing that I long for:
I can see no remedy, I shall liue no more: O spare me then, for my dayes are but vanitie.
Be not hastyly angrie in thy minde: for wrath resteth in the bosome of fooles.
And when the sunne rose, God prepared a seruent east winde, and the sunne beat vpon the head of Ionas that he fainted: and wished vnto his soule, that he might dye, and saide, It is better for me to dye, then to lyue.
For Christe is to me lyfe, and death is to me aduantage.
