The Lord then saide vnto Samuel, Howe long wilt thou mourne for Saul, seeing I haue cast him away from reigning ouer Israel? Fill thine horne with oyle and come, I will sende thee to Ishai the Bethlehemite: for I haue prouided mee a King among his sonnes.

Finally, Samuel said vnto Ishai, Are there no more children but these? And hee sayde, There remaineth yet a litle one behinde, that keepeth the sheepe. Then Samuel saide vnto Ishai, Sende and set him: for we will not sit downe, till he be come hither.

And Saul sayde to him, Whose sonne art thou, thou yong man? And Dauid answered, I am the sonne of thy seruant Ishai the Bethlehemite.

Thy seede will I stablish for euer, & set vp thy throne from generation to generation. Selah.

Bvt there shall come a rodde foorth of the stocke of Ishai, and a grasse shall growe out of his rootes.

And thou Beth-leem Ephrathah art litle to bee among the thousandes of Iudah, yet out of thee shall he come forth vnto me, that shalbe the ruler in Israel: whose goings forth haue bene fro the beginning and from euerlasting.

And they saide vnto him, At Beth-leem in Iudea: for so it is written by the Prophet,

That is, that vnto you is borne this day in the citie of Dauid, a Sauiour, which is Christ the Lorde.
