Goe, I pray you, & prepare ye yet better: know and see his place where he haunteth, and who hath seene him there: for it is sayd to me, He is subtile, and craftie.

Then Absalom and all the men of Israel sayde, The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better, then the counsell of Ahithophel: for the Lorde had determined to destroy the good counsell of Ahithophel, that the Lorde might bring euill vpon Absalom.

Then Iehu assembled all the people, and sayd vnto them, Ahab serued Baal a litle, but Iehu shal serue him much more.

He scattereth the deuices of the craftie: so that their handes can not accomplish that which they doe enterprise.

The Lorde breaketh the counsell of the heathen, and bringeth to nought the deuices of the people.

There is no wisedome, neither vnderstanding, nor counsell against the Lord.

There came men from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria, euen fourescore men, hauing their beardes shauen, & their clothes rent and cut, with offerings and incense in their hands to offer in the house of the Lord.

Now he that betraied him, had giuen them a token, saying, Whomesoeuer I shall kisse, that is he, laie holde on him.

For the wisdome of this worlde is foolishnesse with God: for it is written, He catcheth the wise in their owne craftinesse.
